Which Paddle's are Better?
#11
If you havent chosen tires yet I just rode my buddies 400ex with the new Gecko tires on it. I think they turn better than my sand skate II [I really like ssII's] and still pull nice in the straight. We were riding the Oregon coast. They will be my next set of tires>

Well, it's kind of hard to say now. Hell i didn't know about all the tires sizes and the differances that they make. I still might go with the skat trak haulers but im not sure of the size though. I heard that they are real good for straight ways and straight up hills but the turning part im not so sure. im also going to get the skat trak mohawk tires for the turning on the front. Anybody know if them are good?

I've got the 8 paddle 22x11x10 Extreme Haulers on 9" wide rims & 21x7x10 Mowhaks.
They turn just fine once you get use to them. It takes a little more thought but it works.
What I do is either turn under engine braking or tap the front brakes to get the Mowhaks to bite & it turns good. The only problem I have is turning under power (it's hard to turn with the front tires in the air!! LMAO!!)

Well, SomeCrazyMexican, I have a similar machine as you do and spend enough time inthe sand to see what works and what doesn't. Some Observations:
V Paddles of any variety are not going to hook up like straight paddles. If you want V paddles for turning (which I'm not really convinced they are all that good at anyway) then just get some front ribbed tires to make up for haveing straight paddles in back.
22" tires and a 13 tooth front sprocket works pretty good on the Banshee in the sand.
I have tried 8 and 10 paddle tires and I'm hooked on the 8 paddle tires because you don't have to gear down so much to pull them around, you get MORE top speed with them and I really can't tell a real difference in hook-up vs 10 paddles.
Don't get ANY paddle with a real flat profile, they DO NOT HOOK-UP.
Haulers are good and are the standard but GBC or Chen Shing also make paddles that hook well. They are molded and probably more durable that the vulcanized on Haulers. Also, they cost half as much.
So, there you have it....
BTW, I just switched to 22" Cheng Shin 8 paddle straights and I'm happy as can be. I put GBC ribbed tires up front; they're OK but wide and a little heavy. Mohawks are good, do good on hardpack and are very light but they cost more.
