Dune closures- enough is enough!!

If they are saying 50% is fair then why is 90% of Pismo closed and 75% of Glamis? If they're happy with 50% open up these areas. Public land belongs to all of us. There should be a law making it legal to beat the crap out of drunkin idiots.

The other 50 square miles was designated a Federal Wilderness Area in 1974. Should be plenty of space for species preservation IMHO. For you who go there it's the area North of Hwy 78 and south of the Mammoth Wash area.

I think they left the "limited use" in there to appease F&WS. They want to see a limit placed on how many vehicles can enter that particular area. Never mind that it wasn't used much anyway because it's quite a haul to get deep in there and you have to carry extra gas...
My comments to the BLM when they issued the Draft plan addressed that part. It seems to me that it will be unworkable and leaves the opportunity for the greens to buy up all of the permits if they want.

Over the holiday week I went to Pismo, one of the largest percentage closures in the history of dunes, but what I noticed was that it seems they have reopened up some of the area, not much but something is better than nothing. But at the same time I saw tracks from riders going through the fences and riding on closed land, now that could have happened at night but I really doubt it, all I can say is if I see someone riding in closed areas I will beat them bad when they get out. I know violence is not the way to fix the problem but some people are just so stupid they need a little sense knocked into them. Oh yeah this goes out to all the fools riding without flags, buy a damn flag they cost less than $10 and could save a life, I can not tell you how many dirt bikes I saw with no flags, I had one go by me at less than 6 inches from my front tire I though we were both going to crash, and incase someone is thinking I am picking on dirt bikes, I also ride a cr250 with a flag. One more thing, bikes and quads with no lights riding at night and with no moon, do I need to say anything, that is just dumb, I feel sorry for the idiot that runs into me at night without a light, I will not tlet him or her off the hook, I will take matters into my own hands.
Sorry for the anger but I have had it with all the idiots!!!!

I agree with Motoxracer34. I mean we're trying to fight for more land to ride in yet we are abusing it. We're just giving them more to use against us. I love to ride but I also hate seeing batteries in the sand at Pismo and bottles all over the place. You can't even take you shoes off in the camping areas sometimes because there's so much glass everywhere. That sucks. More people should get involved cleaning up rather than lighting fires and getting drunk.
By the way I know January 18th is clean up day at Glamis. Anyone know where I can get more information on that. Where do I go once I get there? Who do I have to talk to? What time? Please let me know.

Speaking of glass, as of the first of this year glass bottles are no longer allowed at Pismo, a great idea in my mind and hopefully it will be a rule thats followed, besides you get more money returing aluminum than glass, and a 6 pack of glass weights more so you can carry more of what you drink if it is in aluminum.

Everyone on this site should donate time and/or money on a regular basis, even if it's only five bucks a month. We ALL have to do something! There is a sea full of yuppies out there donating to the environmental groups we have to counteract it or we will have nowhere to enjoy our toys and have good clean fun with our friends and family.
