I am fairly new to the sport and am looking for some advice on paddle tires. I have 2-2001 Yamaha Raptors, both stock. Most of the people I have talked to recommend Skat Trak Edge or Sand Skate II's. A dealer recently recommended Gecko's.

Go with the STU Sand Skate or the Edge's. The Gecko's are ok but you will get better traction with the other tires. If you go with the Edges get them in 22X11X9 or 10 with 8 paddles. The Raptor is a big torque engine and the taller tire helps in getting the power to the sand. I had some 20 inch tall paddles and dug holes and trenches on starts wince I got going they were ok. The 8 paddles are all you need with stock or minor engine mods. 9 or 10 paddles will but a big load on the engine and transmission. I hope this helps

stay away from the heavy paddles haulers have done me good but i like the 8" rim
the added rubber on the sidewall takes some of the abuse ti also seems to make it
cup and dig better
