Just wondering if anybody has been to the BLM campground latly to see how the contruction is going and if anybody knew any more final details.

My son and I were there 12/01/02 and it looked like it was going well, not sure on how many new spots but was told when completed we will have pull thru camp spots, an rv dump, onsite running water (wouldn't plan on it being at every campsite) and I'd be really suprised to see power but i could be wrong, I know the Pit Stop has power. These improvements are way overdue and hopefully it will keep the overcrowding down for a few years. I'm up there all the time so drop me a line and I'll try and keep you posted.

This Campground is right in the middle of the St. Anthoney Sand Dunes in Idaho. Very close to Rexburg, Idaho. My opion thses are the best dunes in the US. No noise bylaws and not that crowded as long as you stay away from the long weekends.

The new camp ground looks to be close to being done and there is a lot of space. Be nice to park and leave the wife reading in the camper and go riding and be to jamied up with other veh.

St Anthonys are some great Dunes. There is another camping area about 1 mile east of the BLM campground. It is off a dirt road. Owned land and the owners operate the campground. It has 30 or so pull through, electric, water, sewer camp spots. And tents are allowed. You do not have to camp in the slots with power and water. They have 2 areas for camping, one just below their home, and another farther down the dirt road closer to the dunes. You can camp anywhere on their land if you don't need power etc. It was $10.00 a night without power. $16.00 a night with power etc. No shade but very few rules. The only rule is 5mph in the camping area and the guy will enforce if he see's you going fast.
No curfew etc. It has an access road, soft dirt to the dunes, the lower camp about 1/8 mile away from the dunes, the upper a 1/4 mile or so from the dunes. This is where we stayed when we were there and, where I will stay again when we go back in July. This place will accomadate 200 motor homes imo. 30 or so with power. Reservations are best on big weekends for power, otherwise not needed.
