Las Cruces Nm. dunes?
#2
IF you are referring to the Mescalero (SP?) Dunes NorthEast of Roswell... They aren't worth the trip! Only 2-3 open dunes (Very small at that!) and the rest are covered with heavy vegitation... I was very disappointed!
The only others I know of down there are the White Sands.... They would be absolutely awesome to ride!!!! But the majority is missle test range, and ALL of it is off limits to motorized vehicles! (You'd think with 200+ sq miles of nothing but white quartz sand, they could share a little!!!)
I think they have more tree-huggin', sap on the side of the head, enviro-****'s down there than Colorado does!!
There are some sand hills down by Lubbock, TX called the Kermit Dunes (Not very big either)... The next best bet is Little Sahara, OKlahoma... Those dunes are bigger than what we have at Walden... just a long way down there.
Cool Icon!! I kept hoping something would pop out!!
Hope this helps.

I have ridden both places, the dunes at Kermit are 25 sq miles, and nice soft sand! You can get lost there! Little Sahara,Ok is only about 1500 acres! Kermit is worth the drive. It's about a 7 hour drive for us everytime we go. We only went to Kermit 7 times in 2002..lol So, I guess it's worth it to me. IMO...We are heading to Kermit tommorrow morning.

I live 20 minutes away from Las Cruces New Mexico and have never heard of any dunes there. White Sands would be a great place to ride but like they said they are closed you must keep your vehicles on the roads.

A friend asked me about some dunes he saw near Las Cruces. He was on his way back from Arizona and saw them. I'll get in touch with him and see what he says. (Hatch, NM is very close so I'm sure he knows.)

I'm thinking Rock Springs will be open before Walden is... Can't wait to try out my new pipe (Fingers crossed!)

Walden is now open with the exception of a few drifts. There is a group of people from Walden going up to Rock Springs and Sinclair or Seminoe Reservoir next weekend. Come join us if you are up there!

Waldendunes,
Let us know what you find out about Sinclair/Seminoe sand. I was told there wasn't much there and you weren't allowed to ride in the sand. I never confirmed that personally though.
