This is the Max Reid Trail. The actual trail starts 6.5 miles from my place. The trailhead is just over 1 mile from home.

There was a little snow up there and it was damn cold. LOL

A bit on the nippy side but it was another beautiful day.

If I do any trail maintenance along the way the ride counts as volunteer hours with the Forest Service
and at the end of the year the FS gets paid from the Gov for every hour I spend on the trail that day and they
also get paid for the miles I put on my vehicle and/or my ATV. A win win for everybody.

I must say that my 40v chainsaw has exceeded my expectations.
For this kind of trail maintenance it beats the hell out of a gas chainsaw and its 100% mess free.

At the top of The Max Reid Trail is a junction giving you the choice of going four different directions.

I chose to head up trail 606 and quickly succumb to the ice that is laying under the snow.

It would have been fun but not really the trail I'd care to get in trouble on while riding alone.

One last tree to clear off the trail as I headed back home.

Not a long ride but I had fun and that's what its all about.

I wouldn't want to go on the 606 in icy conditions either. I'd hate to slide off the section with the rockslide.

Nice pics. On our trails most of those trees would stay there for years while people drove over, under or around. I got out my winter gloves and swept the snow off my truck for the first time of the season today. It snowed before last night a few times but always melted during the day. Not this time. So it's getting cold here too, but it's still a great time to ride if you can stay warm and your friends can go.

Once I made it to there I knew there was no way I was going to chance the rock slide. LOL

Thank you. I carry my chainsaw most all the time and clear the tree's off the trail as I come across them.
We do a pretty good job here keeping the trails cleared. I'm fairly involved in the trail system here.

No snow here at my place yet but its been cold for sure. It was 9° here this morning.

I went out yesterday and removed more trees off the trails.
Might sound dumb but I actually enjoy doing it.

Nah, it's just part of maintaining a trail system you enjoy more than most. I used to be a lot more involved with a trail group in NH until a lawyer found an obscure law that ended up dividing our trails into 3 pieces rather than one continuous system.

It barely looks like a trail in the next to last pic.

They are trying to eventually close off the San Rafael swell to OHVs as I type. Environmentalists, special interest groups and Sen Orin Hatch make me puke.

I didn't take a before picture. Everything on the ground was up off the trail and I had to duck coming up through it.
