Never know quite what you'll run into in New England.



Not something I come across out on a trail ride too often. Couldn't find who was running this facility. No signs that I could find other than "No Trespassing".

Looked to me to be a coyote skeleton. Didn't notice another one until I came back on this trail later in the day. It was in the mud to the right of the one in this picture. Something tells me they ran into someone who had the means to dispatch them.



Up around 1800 ft. elevation. Clouds were pretty low most of the day but I didn't get rained on. Not fond of rain when it's in the mid-40's.



Does the woodpile make my quad look small? I've found that it doesn't take trees too long to grow in New England. I've seen spots that were clear cut where the trees are over ten feet tall in a couple years.

 

Good pics. My friends and I saw wood piles like that and thought how nice it would be for firewood.

 

Looked mostly to be pine. Could be used to make pulp for paper, boards, or plywood.

I've seen too many piles of wood shift and tumble. I'll let you go first when you come up to visit.

Was a nice day. The actually closed the trails right after I went on them. I was going to go back into the woods after fueling up at a local gas station and the trail I had gone on in the morning had rocks and logs across it. Maine closes trails once the snow starts flying to let the base layer accumulate for the snowmobilers. I'll plan on a week earlier next year so I can explore some more.
