Higher reving stressed smaller motor have more benifits using synthetic oil the a big lazy truck motor would.

My old F 150 had 300,000 km with conventional oil and minimal oil changes, but that would not work out the same on a 450R or a 120hp 600cc rice rocket motorcycle I bet.

With all the different types, grades and blends out there today, it's pretty safe to say the best oil out there is clean oil.

Best thing you can do, regardless of what you brand or blend you choose, is to change the oil and filter regularly.

I run Valvoline in all of my stuff, and I have no problems. Why spend alot of money to get an oil that has the same viscosity. I did a science fair project on this in 6th grade and found out that there isn't any real temp differance between conv. vs syn. (1-3 F). I did tests on an old Briggs and Strattor generator, and for each test I unplugged my house from the grid and powered it with the generator for about a half hour at a time. What's the point in spending alot of money on motor oil? There's no real difference.

Anyone use car oil? I've read that it does work, as long as it doesn't have friction modifiers.

I asked the same question for the past two years and came up with the same answer: Maxima synthetic. My Honda Rubicon uses five quarts, a bit less, with the hydromatic transmission, so was concerned about what oil to use as the oil runs the transmission as well. The expense put me down to the next level, which was Amsoil 0W-40 synthetic and its been running fine for the past two years.
