Purchasing first quad
#1
I am going to buy my first quad next Spring. I have been doing a lot of research and have narrowed it down to three quads within my price range.
Suzuki KingQuad 400FS
Kawasaki Prairie 360 4X4
Polaris Sportsman 400 HO
What would be the best overall vehicle in this group?

I also had narrowed my choice to the Suzuki KQ400 or the Kawi Prairie 360. As you can tell by my signature, I went with the KQ.
Reasons? The KQ400 is a Suzuki Eiger with the KQ bodywork (as of the 2008 model year), and is built in the USA (Rome, Georgia).
The Eiger has a reputation of reliability & toughness. It is simple in design, easy to do your own maintenance on, and has vast aftermarket support.
At 6'3", 220#, the KQ400 fit me better than the Prairie or the Eiger.
There may still be some 2007 Eigers & 2007 Priaires at dealerships or warehouses, and available at huge discounts--your dealer can check.
BTW, I use a 50" plow on my KQ400. Never had an issue with power, even when pushing wet "Cascade Concrete" snow uphill.
As for the Polaris 400, after the experiences with my Polaris Predator 500, I did not even consider another Polaris.
I purchased my Predator in 2004 because I wanted "buy American". Big mistake. Engine is metric, but the rest of the quad is SAE. What a PITA. And resale on Polaris vs Japanese quads is, in general, less.

The polaris sportsman 500 ho is a bigger quad (full size vs mid-size) and is only about $300 more.
If you decide on a polaris id get the 500 ho not the 400 ho
Unfortunately i do not know enough about the other quads to make a suggestion on which is better.
