Default Newbie Questions

As a longtime SkiDoo snowmobile rider, I'm considering my first ATV and have some specific questions.
My intent would be to purchase a 4wd like the Outlander with a snow blade in order to be able to plow my driveway. It's 350 ft long (all paved), too much for a snowblower and I don't want to buy a used plow truck (that would be like buying a used boat!).

Does anyone plow a large area with one of these? How does it work? I'm afraid if we have more than 3-4 inches, plowing deeper snow into a drift wouldn't work very well. By the time I went 20 ft, would there be too much to push?
Also, I've read some have 'downforce' for the blade. I assume this is necessary?

Any other advise would be appreciated. I don't want to invest 6-9k if it's not going to work well, as this is my main objective for the investment (although I'm sure it will be fun in the summer)!

Thanks!
Owen

Welcome! Any ATV is worth the investment LOL but yes it will work well up to bout 6inches then it will start to over run any ATV.

You would need to push the snow to the side for it to work. Any machine 450 or over with a low range would have enough oomph to push it. You'd be more likely to lose traction before you run out of power.

I'd like to recommend a snowblower set-up for a ATV; www.agri-fab.com - Multi-Fit ATV Snow Thrower

This is what I'll do next time.

You sound like your more worried about plowing your driveway than riding ha?...Def. go with the snowblower setup thoe. outlander seems like a hell of a utility. good luck

neighbors foreman pushes snow all winter. Your right about the 6 inches.. .any more that that it spills over the blade and starts to break traction. Wish I had one, seems as though the local PD lets you "play" on the roads when it "looks" like your working.
