Beat you to it Dodge57Hemi. I posted that up a couple days ago. What a neat machine. I know the military experimented with something like this after WWII. I think they also tested a large scale model for transport on the frozen lakes in Canada and Alaska too.

Yep its quite the machine indeed pretty basic use of machinery yet it works great. Oh well can't blam a man for trying. sorry I missed it!

I missed the other thread too...Darn thing works very well...didnt think it would by looking at it..Wonder why it didnt catch on?

Probably because there aren't a lot of farmers with tons of snow around that want to remove their wheels each fall only to have to re-install them in spring....

I love the concept and could see that on a Jeep, Scout, Suburban.....

Missed the first myself.. It looks like it would fare better than tracks, You would think the skiing industry would look into this. Looks like it would be a great tow vehicle for emergency recovery. With modern engines and lightweight deisgn, that would be ideal.

Oh I see..i didnt catch that it was a mod to a current tractor...but that makes sense since it would only be needed a few months of the year..

Definitely or even a Rhino or similar vehicle..

Make it out of aluminum and titanium and it would be sweet!!

I bet with our modern materials and technology that thing would cross thin ice and open water as well with those big water tight screw drums.

That would be cool and it would easily be faster than a Argo in the water..
