#1
I'm 15 and wanna get back into 4 wheeling
We use to have 2 raptor 660's a warrior banshee and blaster.
I wanna get a something but only problem I have to pay full for it :/
I've been looking on craigslist for like 400ex blasters and such
Any ideas for a good deal or good tips so their not junk?

Keep looking on your local Craigslist, listings. It took me about a month each when I bought two used quads a few years back. Just have to be patient. eBay sometimes has some good bargains too. Of the 4 used quads I bought, I got 3 of them using filters to narrow down my searches and watched the auctions daily.

If you're looking for a solid, reliable quad you should be able to find good deals on the 400ex.
These are just a few of the things I check anytime I look at a used quad:
1. Compression - Does the motor have good compression. Does it smoke?
2. Oil - does it look black and dirty or does it look like the owner did regular maintenance? Does it look like chocolate milk? (Usually an indication that water has gotten in the oil)
3. Bearings and Tie Rods - any slop or play in the rear axle, front wheel bearing, or tie rods?
4. Tire Wear - Bald tires can indicate high usage.
5. Air Filter - Is it clean and maintained?
6. Chain and Sprockets - Worn out sprockets or chain? Is the chain adjustment maxed out?
7. Radiator/Oil Cooler - Are the fins in good shape? Are coolant levels where they should be?
8. Electrical - Do all the lights and switches work?
9. Controls - Do the brakes, clutch, and throttle work smoothly and properly? Are the handlebars straight? (Can indicate a roll-over)
10. Gas tank - Does the gas smell stale? Any dirt in the tank?
11. Frame and Undercarriage - Any rust, cracks, or bends?
12. Body condition - Any fading, cracking, etc.?
