Default Solid heel guards vs. netting heel guards

So I've been lookin around at heel guards, and I cant decide between solid or netting. I know that netting guards will be lighter, but do they let in a lot more rocks and mud and stuff gettin kicked around by the rear tires? Just curious

Thanks!
Kevin

When I rode sport quads, I was a big fan of the solid guards- I've had some close calls with branches coming right up through the nets. But, I would say if you do most of your riding in a pit or off the trail, then use the nets- if it's on the trails in the woods, I'd use solid...
