Help me to choose my new 4x4 atv
#1
I'm in market right now looking for a new atv. I have a 2007 grizzly 700, and I have no complains, but now I want something better. I do a lot of trail ridings and technical riding, not a lot of mud.
I'm thinking about an Outlander Xxc or a Sportsman XP 850, what do you guys think it's the all around atv?
Thanks for your help

Both the 850 XP and the Outlander 800 have gobs of power and power steering available. Polaris has a better frame and more comfortable ride in my opinion. Outlanders are pretty quick but I would get either a frame insert or good skid plates if I bought one. Polaris is a bit more of a gas hog than the Outty from what I've heard on the trail and in publications. My son's Renegade 500 got 30mpg on the same trails I got 22mpg.

Better than the Grizz 700
Sure we all have our opinins on quads but I highly doubt, and as you will soon come to realize you wont find a better all around quad than a Grizz. By better you mean power sure we all want that but so do the guys that own 800,850 and 1000's its a never ending battle in the quest for power. For me I would rather use the money towards things like suspension/tires the things that will take a quad farther than the most powerful quad in the world! Honing a rider skills makes for a great machine as well. JMO Good luck with whatever you buy!
This not my quads but another guys 700 from another forum I'm on but it gives you the idea of what i am talking about!

Damn! I wouldn't want to ride that thing- it's too nice.
IMHO- The new popo 850's are nice, but I don't think anything can touch a new outty 800.

Keep the Grizzly and go to Cuba instead this winter with the cash. Not going to see much of a trail improvments over a Grizzly. The 800 and 850 will fly down a open road faster and smoother ,I would guess.
I trail ride with a 800 outlander all the time and don,t see where it rides trail any better than my 500. Our trails are rough slower trails where your lucky to hit 30 mph for more the a few seconds at a time..

Spend the money on a suspension upgrade- the grizz is real top heavy and lazy on the corners compared to other atvs.

Put a real set tires on the Grizz like the Can-Am has on it and adjust the preload on the suspension and I grantee I will keep up (if not ahead) with any ute in the tight stuff!

I ride with a guy on here (troyboy) who owned an 09 grizz 500 and just bought a 2010 grizz 700- I've ridden it a few times- It's a good overall atv, but even his new 700 has been in the shop twice for warranty issues, and he's already put over $2600 in shock upgrades because it was so lazy in the corners- even after adjusting the stock springs.
he almost tipped it over a few times (and he's experienced) taking some medium speed corners. He even once had to find another way around a steep curvy incline because it kept tipping, whereas my rincon and the brute who was with us crawled right up.
Don't get me wrong- I like the grizz, comparing the grizz to an outlander is like comparing a corvette suspension to a lincoln suspension- both are good, but both are completely different on the trail.
The grizz 700 is great for popping wheelies as well as the outty 800- the outty has the upper hand in terms of "pop & go" and the grizz is comfortable as hell on a rocky trail, neither is more reliable then the other, I speak from experience- I've owned 4 outlanders and never had any serious issues with any of them, and I ride pretty hard at times in deep mud... JMHO
