to my wood stove? because I'm in love with it right now
We're in the first quarter of a blizzard and over 11,000 without power already- still have another 12 hours of snow and 60 mph winds to go.
I got the wood stove pumping out mega btu's of heat- boy do I feel sorry for all those city folk without a wood stove and no electricity- gonna be one cold & windy night in bean town!

I will always have a wood burning stove(in fact its gong right now). We've had several ice storms here in missouri the past few years and have been without power up to 3 days. Even without the fan on the stove moving the air,it still stayed 75 degrees up stairs in our kitchen and living room. and the floors were warm too. That same year all our neighbors that didnt have a wood burning stove/fireplace had $200 gas bills every winter month while ours remained $65.00 every month. it takes us 4 days to cut and split all the wood i need for a winter and that is well worth it in the end. The wife enjoys the little bit of exercise as well

Yep- costs $1200 in oil to heat the winter months. But I haven't put a drop of oil in my tank in over five years! I burn 4 cords from oct - april, I burn just about 24/7 and the entire house stays around 70 - 82. I only use the blower on nights 20* or colder. Stove paid for itself first season- forget about the energy savings tho- you can't beat a machine that has no moving parts and is able to heat a 2200 sf house with no electricity!!!

hmm- you're right, I wouldn't wan't to stain the stove

Now that was not a pretty picture... Uggh...
I had an ice storm many years back that knocked out power for 2 full days almost to the minute. Got woodstove the next year and haven't looked back. If I need to I have about 12 acres of hardwoods up in VT or a buddy lets me cut and keep up in NH. I actually haven't had to cut any trees down in the past 2 years. People have been giving me wood in neighboring towns and even across the street. I save somewhere around $1500-$2000 per year. It was a lot more pleasent before I injured my back though to get the exercise.
