I have a 1987 LT230e bored to 270...
took it out a few month ago, ran great all day then just started dying. would run then die, let sit for a sec run then die. turns out its not getting gas in the carb. carbs spotless every nook and cranny. used different tank with straight gravity feed nothing between the gas and the inlet to the carb and still no luck. adjusted float as far as possible and it still runs out of gas. runs good when running.... I've been a mechanic for 5 yrs and have never had something kick my butt like this. any ideas will help. i feel like the only way to fix it is to buy a new carb.

even axially down the throat of the jet, longways? see daylight through all ports? by the way, both jets need to be super clean, as if it came from the factory before it left the shelf, so to speak. inlet hose ain't plugged is it? is it free flowing? make sure the tank is vented. you don't want to vacuum lock the tank. let us know.......

sorry took so long to get back...
everythings clean like you said, been threw ever nook and cranny in that thing trying to find a piece of dirt i missed. already checked the needle and jets for cracks or chips. tried running it with gas cap off and hand over the gas cap threads. only time it would run good is if i plugged up the vent tube for the carb. I've scratched my head on this till my hair started falling out haha. the only way i can describe it is, it almost seems like its not pulling enough vaccum on the carb. It has plenty of commpression tho. bout breaks your arm to pull it. I did adjust the valves when it first started messing up and that helped it start alot easier. they were very very far off from spec.
