Default Question for Southern Maine riders

Hi all, we went up to Jackman, ME last year and had a great time spending a week at a place that was on a lake and had access right from our cabin to hundreds of miles of ATV trails. Are there any places with this kind of setup say, from Rangeley Lakes or Sebago Lake areas and to the South?

Thanks for any help.

Moose

Hey Moose. Nothing really like Jackman area in the south. Rangeley Lakes area has some new trails and some large new connector trail (blue something) that would be worth riding for sure. Rangeley is an insane fishery.....Not sure if you fish, but it's world class. You could do a combo ride / fish. Would take some more research than Jackman though. You'd really need to plan your rides each day. You could also go east and do the new Sunrise Trial. There is tons of club trails off the main 90mile rail trail. You could ride that area for days. You need a good Maine ATV map, then go from there. You could go back to Jackman and plan a trip north (with a passport) and head up to the strip clubs in Quebec City.... Kidding.

Yeah, it's kind of what I was thinking when I was comparing the big map of ATV trails from the Maine dept. in charge of ATVs. Didn't see much in the way of advertising for cabins with trails at the door South of Abbott, ME or South of The Forks area on the West side of the state. I'll try to come up with more information on the Rangeley area. It's not much of a time saver trip-wise from here.
I do fish a bit. Used to more but it's hard to find the time to just get out there. Didn't have any action on Big Wood Lake up in Jackman. Tried surface fishing, trolling, and deep rigs with lead line. Not much more than a few lazy hits.

The Forks would be great. If you could time it with some whitewater rafting, that would be a blast. There are some great guided trips on some pretty serious water (dam releases). Not kiddie stuff..... Once at the Forks area, you could ride for days and make yourself (with gas) up to Rangeley. There's lots of cabins and cheap places to stay in and around Rangeley. -Check out Down East area too....
