which atv mag to buy?
#1
it's probably been discussed before-
I'm looking to subscribe to a hard copy atv mag geared mostly towards trail / utility 4x4 atv's. The last hard copy magazine I subscribed to was Dirt Bike back in 1990
so I've been out of the mag scene for a while now.
seems like the 4 most popular are:
Dirt Wheels
ATV Magazine
ATV Rider
ATV Action
anyone get any of these?
how do you like it?
if I missed one- please list it.

Been a few years, and I can't remember which one I got, but it too was mostly sport. But every month it got thinner and thinner. By the time you took out the ads, and the this months best buy was last months worst buy articles it wasn't worth getting anymore.
Don't know if highlifter makes any type of mag, but if they did, they'd have the type you were looking for.

that's what I usually do- but I've been wanting to get something I can read when there's no computer around- and my 8 year old loves looking at the pics and honing his reading skills

I've watched atv tv a few times- it's pretty good.
I'll head over to highlifter and check them out too

My son gets Dirt Wheels. Pretty good mix of sport and utility machines. Often have riding areas listed. I pick up ATV Rider sometimes if I'm out and they have a review of something I might be interested in.

I think the most objective source of ATV information is Dirt Trax TV, on channel 398 of Dish Network each monday night.
All of the magazines are so biased by advertising dollars that you really have to question what you read in them. Just a few days ago I was reading an article in Dirt Wheels Magazine about the 2012 Yamaha Rhino. They said it felt like, drove like, and handled like a sports car. My first question was, who was the sap that wrote that? Come on, you guys that have owned a Rhino, and also own a Challenger, or Camaro, or Mustang, tell me if you think a Rhino is in any way "like a sports car". Oh my god what a pathetic line of crap that was. I just stopped reading the article at that point.

Next month, it'll be the worst thing they ever test drove. And the (insert largest cash donor here) will be the greatest thing.
