I'm far from New England, but we see a few of those bed decks out here in the west. Especially during hunting season when folks are towing house trailers and they want to bring their ATV's too. But I don't think I've ever seen anyone load snowmobiles on them. I guess I'll have to start paying more attention this winter.

I guess I don't see the problem with using those decks. Even with 2 quads on the deck, it's still lighter than many slide in campers. Plus, a camper is taller.

my in-laws have a large slide in truck camper- most of the weight with those campers is below the bed rails. Even with his chevy 2500 HD pu, you have to be careful taking corners and ramps- I've shared the ride many times making a 15 hr trip to canada- I always have a kung-fu grip on the wheel (not that it'll do any good - but it does feel top heavy and yhe truck does lean a lot more when hitting the off ramps.

for me it isnt the height when driving, but the height when loading. Just the thought of riding up 2 narrow ramps with the possibility of falling off and trashing the side of my truck.

I once rolled my BF750 off the back of a uhaul truck- it was one of those big box trucks, the bed was a good 4' off the ground. I was using two aluminum atv ramps- one of the ramps buckled and I rolled it right off and flipped it. Not fun at all!

please tell me it was one of those home depot ramps, i have a setup i bought for loading my harley into the truck. 10' x 40", 3 ramps held together with a alum rod. When i ride that bike up i always cringe as the arch in the ramp flattens out, i keep picturing it falling though and my wife coming home to find me in the driveway crying about it.

nope- it was one of those tri-fold ramps I bought at motorsports international for $150

An observation- I've noticed... many items that say they are for atv's, the manufacturer buit / designed them in 2000 - 2007 assume the atv is around 400-500 lbs or for a smaller sized atv- they seem to forget that newer big bore atv's are quite larger now, weighing in at 700-1000+ lbs with a rider sitting on it. Many of these aluminum ramps say not to exceed 300lbs per ramp.
I also noticed with my friends 2-place (side by side) atv trailer- you can hardly squeez two full size big bore atv's on the trailer- the tires and fenders are rubbing the rails and each other in the middle.

Manufacturers need to acknowledge that the current big bore utility atv is much larger than it was in 2001 and so on...

I'm just not a big fan of aluminum trailers or ramps- I'd much rather have a steel ramp and a heavy steel trailer.

I haven't had any problems with my aluminum ramps. I weigha around 350 and I'm riding a Sportsman X2. So, between me and the quad filled with gas, we're talking about 1250 lbs. of man and machine. You have to buy ramps rated higher than you think you might need.
