the reason why honda could care less...
about front diff locks and twin cylinder powerplants for their atv's.
Honda appears more interested in building robots to clean disaster sites.
I wouldn't be surprised to see honda pull out of the atv business.
Eventually, they will either have to upgrade their atv's or pull out of the atv race.
It would be funny if they built a robot to ride one of their atv's

hehe- it walks like it has to take a dump

I ended up getting a Polaris because the guy at Honda treated me like I didn't have any money, the minute he told me to get my kid off the quad in the showroom he lost my sale, I'm glad I didn't buy it, your right that they are behind the times for sure, Honda is definitely the most popular quad around here in the survey industry though, almost every survey truck in Alberta or Sask has two Honda's on the back.
Off Topic here a little beergut, but do you guy's have ATV or Sled decks in the US, I drive truck and it just occurred to me that I don't think I ever seen one on the road south of the border, no one around here uses trailers anymore, here is my old truck so you know what I'm talking about if your not familiar with them, who knows maybe there all over your area too, I just never see them on the road down there.

I can't imagine loading 2 full size atv's up on a pickup bed deck would feel all that stable
especially on a stock 1500 / 150 chevy / ford suspension. That would be one white-knuckle ride to the staging area-moose- you ever see'em around here?

I have never seen one- ever. Around here you mostly see toy haulers and single & double place trailers.

Nope, never see moose either, lol
I really like the decks, you need a 3/4 ton or 1 ton, they are scetchy on a 1/2 ton, It does take some getting used to loading but they are great, no difference in gas milage and just nicer to be able to haul the toys where ever without dragging a trailer around, here are some more pics of them

It looks worse than it is, it's really easy to load

Just don't overload the ramp

Other than needing a true 3/4 or full ton truck I don't care to load something that high. You're talking about 5 ft. or so depending on the truck. That's a long way to fall. With a 12 foot X 101" snowmobile trailer I can carry 3 fullsized quads. If an extra person comes we take the truck cap off and load a single rider machine in the bed of the pickup.

I think the reason you don't find any of these bed decks in new england is because of the hilly windy roads. the roads in the mid west are mostly grid-like, around here every road is windy with sharp turns (a lot of the local roads are actually old horse wagon roads that were simply paved)
I think you'd be looking for trouble loading 1 or 2 atv's on top of a bed deck and driving through the white mtns or the berkshiers- or even through the worcester hills for that matter

To each their own I guess, I used these decks every day for 5 years in northern Alberta and never had a problem with driving in the mountains and down winding logging roads, the survey company I worked for had 45 trucks with these decks and they would go where no truck towing a trailer would go, a lot of breaking trail on untraveled snow covered roads and the weight of the bikes and deck made the truck almost unstoppable, I think the reason they are popular here is they started making them in Alberta for survey trucks and then people started buying them for private use, I remember when a few of my co workers did lose control and hit the ditch with them on bad roads and there was no damage to the quads or truck like there would be pulling a trailer and jackknifing and smashing the truck and trailer together, that's a big reason why all the company's started using them.
There are literally thousands of these things in Sask, BC and Alberta.
Guess they aren't for everyone though....
Sorry for the hi jack beergut.

Actually about 2 years ago i did see one in New england going up route 495, i still think it is ballsy to load something that heavy up that high. I get stressed enough putting my Harley in the bed of my truck, i wouldnt want to go any higher.
However that deck would solve my issue when i want to take my quad and i have my travel trailer, currently we have to bring a second truck.
