Emigrating to Canada
#1
Should I or shouldn't I?
So what are the prospects for a well qualified carpenter in Eastern Canada these days? Or Western for that matter?
My wife is originally from Ontario, and has lived with me in Scotland for the last four years.
She has always been keen to go back home and since first visiting the country in '94 I have always pictured myself ending up there. (even before I met my wife).
I am a fully qualified carpenter of 14 years, covering all aspects of the trade and my wife is a secondary school English teacher.
Just wondering if anyone has any comments, good or bad. Just how good is the current economy and employment? What kind of salary could I expect to earn to begin with, assuming I can find a job. Do construction companies use contractors or mostly employees?
I realise it's a big country but I'm just brain storming the idea, looking for thoughts.
Thank you
James
