The way things are going we won't have safe ice all winter. It keeps getting up to 40* which is okay with me. I haven't needed to plow snow yet.

After the constant snowstorms we had here last year, it's kind of nice to have an easy go of it. Haven't had to shovel yet!!! Can't say that most winters in New England.

Was just out on the ice on a high lake up in west central NH today. Was following 4 other guys and was distressed to see a little slush on top.... I was so intent on following there tracks so as to go over ice they didn't break through that I didn't notice there were 2 pickup trucks out on the middle of the lake.....

Just had our first snowmobile fatality here in Maine on Friday I believe it was, where someone went through the ice. Then 2 more people died in unrelated snowmobile accidents this weekend. The ice really isn't safe enough to be out on it with vehicles at this point!

glad that wasn't my truck! heard of two more atv's through ice recently, but then we had a solid week of below zero temps (the high was below zero on two or three days) so maybe it'll end, until ice-out anyway. can the vehicles be salvaged after being submerged like that? he's lucky the crane could get him out of the river; i imagine it's a bit tougher in the middle of a lake where the shore is a few hundred feet or yards away...
