Dirt Devils 27-10-12....1.25 tread depth
#1
I have a Honda Rancher with 25" Dirt Devils on it. They are about .75 " tread depth and performed great on a backwoods hunt to Canada. Now keep in mind the mid size bike had to haul a load of equipment and a small trailer and not get to bogged down so I choose them as an all around tire option because that is what I what I encountered. The tire handled most everything, mud, rocks, trees, brush... 6 ply no leaks. I never considered them for the new CAT i am getting until I saw a message from Boner on another board about them. They also had a pretty good ride for the trail and hard pack. Well they are about to have a more aggressive version for larger sizes and I am getting pretty interested if for nothing more than my good experience with the other Dirt Devils I have. After talking to the spec's guy at GBC it sounds like they are close to full measurement at 7lbs. pressure. ie. 27" tire is actual 26.90 so......My question is for an all around tire has anyone got any additional information. I use my bike in MN and Canada and while there are areas with gumbo mud most of the time it is a little more of the watery variety plus you encounter about all types of conditions from rocks to logs to swamps. By the way it is a hell of a good time between the ridin and hunting, if the the hunting is a little slow there is always the slow, dark, put-put-put back to a warm tent and supper to look forward too. Pick up my new 2001 Manual CAT in early May.
Thanks........

Well ladies and gentleman the new Dirt Devil sizes are listed in some of the web sites but the product isn't in this country yet. Suppose to be here for delivery in mid-may. I will be riding on something else by that time or I will be going crazy......Plus we all know once you put your money down and go on the back order list they gotcha......Look's like a nice tire but to late for me. Any thoughts, all round like a 589, or Mud Bug, ect. Thanks

Actually, I have 27x12x12 Tri-Claws all around, not bi-claws. And I never said I would replace them with Dirt Devils. What I do need to replace is my stockers. With about 15-20 holes(slime saves me the horror of counting plugs) in them total and over 2500 miles they are not looking too good. I will still use my stockers tho for now. Since I have 3 sets of wheels, I'll probaly just get some 28x10x12 all around for all around riding(I'll have 2 sets of 6.5" wide wheels all around after I get off of this wheel trading "high" I've been on lately).
I MIGHT consider 12" rears, but I realy see no need.

Hey Boner,
I am wanting to buy some of the Dirt Devils: 27x10x12 fronts 27x12x12 rear. Do you think they will rub using my factory rims. AC500 auto 2001. Sister in laws good friend is Phil Robertson "The Duck Commander" lives in your neck of the woods. I think he said he uses the "claws" also. Also, which do you think is better: Mudbugs or Dirt Devils?

Well if you jump your Cat or hit a rather large bump at high speed with about 200 lbs on the rear rack the stockers will rub if the shocks bottom out.
If you ride along most of the time and don't realy load the racks much the 27s will never rub. I recomend that if you think you are gonna be adding more than 150 lbs to the rear rack or more than 75 lbs to the front that you consider adding Cowboy's spring spacers. They will stiffen up the suspension so it doesn't bottom out as easy and will also increase your ground clearance. With these spring spacers on you will probaly NEVER have to worrie about ANY tires rubbing, even the 28" Dirt Devils.
BTW: Never heard of the person you are talking about, sorry. What town is he from? What does he ride??
