Check with your state DNR. Often times they'll have the info your looking for regarding ORV's. In indiana as long as it's registered with the DNR and has the registration stickers issued by them, ($30 for three year tags in Indiana) your good to ride on county roads in most but not quite all of the counties. Indiana also recognizes out of state registrations as well. I only wish that the state of Michigan would be just as courteous. I have to buy a MI registration sticker every year to be legal there.

Mine here in Iowa has a title and I have a public land sticker on the rear which is required to ride it on our lakes and in the DNR's ATV parks. We aren't allowed to ride them on the roadway or ditches of any public highways or its shoulders and ditches. Theres and exception for agriculture purposes where it can be ridden down the roadway same as a car when going from farm to farm for such purpose with no special equipment required. This applies only between sunrise and sunset. Personally I carry fence fixing equipment on my ATV incase I'd get stopped. I'm just fixin fence so the cows don't get out, ha.
