Put your tie downs where you can just go over the back tires. Strap over the tire only leave quad in nutral and let the suspension work as it rides down the road. Just made a 2200 mile round trip to florida gncc race and its perfect.

Each quad has 4 straps. This is an old pic and I now use the stronger straps all around.

My 5'x8' trailer has a 2"x8' front and side rails, so all I do to secure my atv in the trailer is- back my atv in and hook the chain laynard I welded to the trailer to the atv hitch and set the parking brake.

that's it. I can unload or load the atv is 30 seconds.

no straps to mess around with.

I've been towing it around like this all over new england for years- never a problem. I hate ratchet straps!

Not a good idea to leave the quad in gear when hauling, its rare, but any sudden or violent starts/stops (accidents, or avoiding one) can shock the drivetrain gears and possibly damage them. Tying the brake down and strapping them they way you do is a good system, I would put them in neutral for the trip, though.
