Repower 1985 Yamaha Moto 4 - replace engine
#1
Has anyone replaced the engine on a Yamaha Moto 4?
I have had carb problems for many years now. Clean, adjust, rebuild, more problems. Repeat.
Furthermore, the engine has been getting progressively less reliable and now doesn't start at all (with or without starter fluid).
I have had good success in the past simply swapping out engines on equipment. I have used Lifan engines in the past because they are readily available and inexpensive. I know you purists don't like the Honda clones, but like I said, I have had good luck with them.
Anyway, does anyone know if the Lifan 200cc motorcycle engine is a simple bolt on to a 1985 Yamaha Moto 4 or is there some type of modification that needs to be done to make it work or is to involved to consider?
Any help would be appreciated.
