Default How to recoil a spring in the recoil starter?

In my last post, I couldn't get the cover off the recoil starter. I managed that, but it was not recoiling. So I started taking it apart and the entire spring SPRANG out.

How do I get that LOOOONG spring recoiled back into the housing? Any hints?

Its one mother of a job, I,d just buy another spring for $25 Dirt Cheap Yamaha, Honda, Arctic Cat & Polaris OEM Parts & Accessories – Cycle Parts Warehouse.

I just needed a rope changed and brought the recoil to a small engine place and they changed it for $10.

I hate messing with those things.

What you act like they are sharp and have a chance of unwinding in your face? Thats the part that keeps you on your toes!

Just answered this question in your previous post Max.
