Beginner riding gear?
#1
Hi Guys,
I am just getting into the ATV scene and planning on buying my first ATV soon.
However my main question is what is some good starting out riding gear? I will be primarily riding at a Carnegies or Hollister up in North Cali, with a trip to Glamis every month or two months.. so generally warm weather except for cold night rides...
I don't want to get super expensive top of the line gear until i know what type of gear i feel comfortable in..
also i like the color green...so hopefully the gear comes in that color!
Sorry if this is a stupid question that will start a brand war.... i just want to know what is a good starter not cheapo ****.. but not expensive stuff.
This includes helmet and boots.

If you go with the brand names and want a matching set of gear you're going to pay more than just getting the above items separately. I can't really help you beyond that. I'm not the color coordinated kind of rider. Not really coordinated either.
But that's a different topic.

Shift has pretty nice kit for the money, I have been using there stuff for a while now. Likewise the cheaper Thor gear has been a favorite of mine as well, plus you can get everything from goggles to boots matched out in Thor if you wish.

I bought a pair of Joe Rocket brand gloves and wore them out on the first day. I wouldn't reccomend them.

leather work gloves, work boots, a helmet...theres yer cheapest and easiest route.
Motorcycle style motocross boots are not condusive to quad riding at least for me. ya wanna be able to walk around whilst taking breaks, and motocross boots ain't good for walking...so dismiss them immediatley. expensive gloves, while nice are unnecessary and will eventually be trashed with mud. a $10 pair of leather work gloves from Lowes is fine.
Thats my input....it may not be yours but thats all ya really need if ya wanna go "basic" and inexpensive...anything more is just spending money.
