New to forum. Looking at buying a used ATV off craigslist. I know the risks. I found one to my liking. I am in TN. Seller is in TN. 2003 Honda Rancher. Says he bought the ATV used in 2006 and has a KY title. He says he never registered it in TN. Is this a red flag? If the title VIN and ATV VIN match am I safe?

 

you need to figure out what TN law/statutes say/dictate.
now i've bought a lot of quads off of CL. In Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, and New Mexico. if the Title numbers match the VIN, great, BUT also get a bill of sales signed by the seller and have his/her printed name under the signature. heck, it don't have to be typed, i've written down many of bill of sales just before i bought the quad(s) just so i can look at the VIN and put the VIN on the bill of sales. good luck.
