Default Buying A New ATV

Hi, i'm 13 and upgrading from my Polaris phoinex 200 and would like to know any suggestions on some sport utility atvs. Ive looked at some sportsmans.... grizzily....450 is the range im thinking.
I mostly ride trail but like to play in the mud and run around with friends sometimes. an atv that will take the occasional powersliding but has 4x4.
thanks!
Jake

I like a mid size chassis rather then a full sized chassis for sporty riding. The best in those classes are the 450 Grizzly or 420 Rancher or the discontinued 450 wolverine and older Sportsman 400H.O (Hawkeye version not current Sportsman version) if your buying used.

All have 2wd/4wd select if power sliding is your thing.
My mid size chassis 350 Grizzly sure handle better on the twisty narrow trails then my full size Sportsman but you will get bored of a 350 well before a 450 Grizzly.

Once you move to a 500cc you have the same full size clumsier chassis as the big bores.

Good advice TLC.
Trying to combine 2 "animals" is tough.
4x4 for the mud and powersliding and sporty riding is not an easy mix.

The 450 Grizzly will have IRS, low range and true AWD diff lock another is the Can Am 400 Outlander but those ATVs will cost more then a 420 Rancher I would think because of those options.

The Suzuki KQ/Eiger 400 (376cc) is also a Mid sized Chassis. Like the Rancher it will be a SRA and no AWD diff lock option I think but it does have low range which is handy in think heavy mud and slow steep up hills.

Nope ,only the 2014 500 Foreman is the first to finally get AWD diff lock. The Rancher, Rubicon and Rincon are left out for this this year.

Hondas SXS has it also. Aways did I think ,its odd the ATVs took so long.

But Honda is slow on things it took to 2003 for them to get 2wd/4wd select and they are the last to still use Mechanical rear Drum brakes vs hydraulic rear disk on non budget ATVs like the Rubicon and Foreman.
I,m not even sure if the Rubicon is still made?

I like the ranchers but they don't have true 4x4 like the grizz. The grizzly 450 may be the bike.
