Default which 2014 ATV but no side-by-side

Hello folks, I am new in ATVs. I have looked for the good and the best ATV for my needs. I know there is no best but maybe good.

Let's talk about me and my needs... I am the type of guy who really doesn't have patience at all. When I want to go somewhere I can do a detour but only if I really have to! I like going into the trails (ATV from work and my friends') but I would also like to get out of the trails, I am not talking to put trees down. I love being in the woods

My needs... I have a small family with 3 kids, a wife and me. 2 seaters is a need. I would need enough power, 1000 is to powerfull for me. I hunt, fish, and of course long ride.

The options that I am looking for are the ones who everubody is looking for with some extra. There I go, a second passenger seat, foot rest for the second passenger, winch. Some extra options could be, windshield, heated handels for the driver (winter).

My search...
Honda TRX680F Rincon has been reputated but small ground clearance and good engine, 2wd/4wd.

Suzuki King Quad 750 has lots of ground clearance, lots of power (a bit slow), basic vehicle and has been the same Platform for several years2wd/4wd.

Can-Am outlander MAX 650 or 800, lots of power, good ground clearance, already 2-up, Platform Wise... not a lot a years of experience, they are not really built in Canada or USA, lots of gadgets, 2wd/4wd.

Polaris Sportsman Touring 550, very good ground clearance, lots of gadget, not a old Platform so doesn't have lot of experience, not a lot of power, awd/2wd.

Artic Cat... I just don't like

Yamaha Grizzly 700, good ground clearance, good power, weird dash, 2wd/4wd/4wd diff lock.

Kawasaki Brute Force 750, small ground clearance, power full, 2wd/4wd.

As you can see I did my homework. Each time when I speak with someone, this person talks about his/her own toy.

So now folks, would you be able to help me to find an ATV?

Thanks

You really should have a 2-up for riding double and there are only 3 choices, AC, Can-Am, and Polaris. I wouldn't even look at the single person quads.

Like mentioned the Artic Cat, Can-Am and Polaris only have 2up stretched frames.

Forget about the 680 Rincon it only has 39hp which is low for a 700 class, most 500-550s make that.
Plus with only a 3 speed and no low range it has a tow capacity of only 850lbs, the smaller 500 Foreman or 420 Rancher can pull more at least they have a super low 1st gear.
My 350 Grizzly has a higher 1100lb tow capacity.

One a ATV has atleast 25" tires and IRS they are guaranteed to have decent ground clearance or 10" more or less.

I would look at a Polaris Touring 550 for most everthing or a 850 if you like speed. There is also the Polaris Sportsman X2 550 that has a dumpbed instead of a rack. There is a stowaway seat in the dumpbed that folds up to make a passenger seat. The Touring has a more comfortable seat. The X2 is more work related.

The Outlander Max is also a good machine for 2-up riding with a comfortable passenger seat like the Polaris Touring. The 500 is almost as powerful as some of the other makers' 700 cc class machines. The 650 is more powerful than the others' 700 and 750 class machines. The 800 and 1000 are for the speed lovers.

The reason I bought a Can-Am Outlander Max over the Polaris Touring is that there is room for a big box even when the passenger seat is in place. With the Touring passenger seat in place there isn't much room for a box for gear.

I would advise against any of the single rider quads as well. The true 2-ups are safer and many riding locations will not let you ride double unless it was specifically made for that. Being new riders with little kids, stay safe out there. Polaris, Can-Am, whichever one tickles your fancy, both make good machines and no one makes a perfect machine.

.
You really make me laugh with this. The 850 lbs tow rating is the same on every honda 4x4 atv. Even the super low geared rubicon with 5 high gear ratios and 5 separate low gear ratios is rated at 850. Please, I'll hook your little grizzly to the back of my rincon and we will see what bike truly pulls harder.

To the op - I'd go with a two up outlander 650 if you are looking for a potent 2 up without the excess power of the 1000. Can't say many bad things about my 08 and the G2s have addressed the previous issues.

If that's true then that is sad. Most all 4x4s ATVs with a low range are rated at 1200lbs.

Its about the tranny not engine sized when towing. A 65hp farm tractor can out pull a 300hp 4x4 pick up truck.
The Rincon's 3 speed tranny is just silly.

A 300 KQ with its front diff lock and "Ultra low" range can out pull the 3speed 680 Rincon. Same as a 450 Grizzly, 400kq a 350 Big Bear ,I could go on and on.

The Rincon is a 18 speed mountain bike with only the bottom low 8 gears not working.

850lb tow rating is pathetic especially for a 680 big bore.
The Rincon does not even come with a tow hitch, because Honda did not intend it to be a work horse.

I guess every ones is lying. 850lb tow rating from a 680 http://www.atv.com/specs/honda/utili...se/detail.html

1102lb tow rating from a 350 http://www.atv.com/specs/yamaha/util...x4/detail.html

The Rincon is what it is.
Low powered 3wd big bore with a tall geared tranny. Not a winning compo.
