Default 2002 polaris sportsman 4x4 eltetrical issues

Whether I'm riding or its sitting and no one is touching it, it shuts everything off but the electric fan will stay on as if the kill switch is on. Please help it's frustrating and I'd like some answers

From what I'm understanding the machine dies, but the fan keeps running? If this is the case check the sealed circuit breaker in the plastic pouch located up from the battery. Usually tucked under the left rear fender. Just slice the pouch open and see if the terminals are corroded. This is a resetting breaker, but may be shorting out, cutting power. Plus there's another breaker under the front panel for the fan. Both if needed are cheap at any auto store. Plus there is a thermistor sensor on the bottom of the radiator that triggers the fan and if it shorts out the fan can run constant. It provides the ground path to the fan,the circuit breaker provides the voltage. You can trace this sensor harness up to the top of the radiator and disconnect it. Check resistance on the two wires when cold and then after you heat up the sensor with a heat gun or hair dryer. Resistance should drop when heated. If it zeros out or ohms don't change when heated the sensor may be shorted causing the fan to stay on also.

I'm watching the headlights flash on and off without the switch being touched, the fan is turning on when it gets hot, and sometimes the motor cuts out with the lights and sometimes it doesn't. Does that change anything

Could be the circuit breaker or an ignition switch short, left control emergency on/off switch short along with what I've already mentioned. Best if you download this manual and check the troubleshooting guide along with the wiring schematic. Better than going blind on this and throwing parts at it..http://gh-ftp.com/ORV%20Manuals/Pola...0%20-%20SM.pdf

Makes sense, last year I replaced Tue ignition because when you shut the key off EVERY thing but the motor shut off, I'll check some other forums and blogs and whatnot and that manual and see what the best plan is
