Which should I buy 2014 Polaris 570 touring vs Can-Am 400 max xt
Hello Everyone,
This is my first post and i'm new to the world of ATV'S. I'm getting ready to buy my first atv. I'm pretty sure I have narrowed it down to a 2014 Polaris 570 touring or a Can-Am 400 max xt. I'm looking for a 2-up 4x4 and these both seem to fit the bill. I'll mostly use it for ice fishing, plowing my driveway, and some trail riding. I can purchase either one for about the same price. However, the Can-Am does come with factory bumper guards, hand guards, and a winch already installed. Any advice or recommendations would be extremely helpful. Thanks.

Can Ams are expensive. The 570 is a full size ATV with a new DOHC motor that's in a different class over the 400 single SOHC. Must be a 10hp plus difference at least.
The larger 500 Outlander Ca-Am used to go head to head with the 500 Sportsman which the 570 replaced. 4x4 ATVs Comparison Test Report - What's the Best 500 Utility ATV? so the smaller 400 outlander sure would have its hands full with the improved 570.
Not even sure if the more expensive Outlander MAX 500 twin has anything over the 570 Touring let alone the lesser 400 single version.
The 400 is rated at 32hp that's a lot of weight for a 2up 700lb ATV.
The 570 is rated at 44hp with more ft/lb torque as well. Has the 500 Outlander beat now.
35% more power is big.
At least get the new 2015 Outlander 450 Max Its rated at 38hp (Replaced the 400 Outlanders). Looks like even Can-Am though the 400 did not have the power for a heavy 2up. http://www.atvreviewnetwork.com/enth...cleCode=411047 your dealer must be getting rid of the old 400 stock.

Thanks for the input! cost is defiantly a factor as i'm trying to keep it around $8,000 or less. Since the only reason I was looking for a 570 was for a 2-up would I be better off buying 2 Polaris 400 H.O's for a little more? Or is it really worth is too get a 570 2-up now and wait awhile to get a second?

2 things I like about the Polaris over the can ammore ground clearance, and power advantage while only being about 30lbs heavier.
The other thing I saw is the Can am has primary front wheel drive I do not think the polaris does I think it's rear wheel but I can't be sure so please don't quote me on that. I will add I just bought a 400 HO sportsman for 5585 OTD and really so far couldn't be happier.
I don't put so much on motor power as gearing and suspension make the real differences but thats just me.

So I myself would take the 570 over the 400 if they cost the same instantly.
The 400 will do what you want for a trail ride but where it works to the limit in certain situations the 570 would not be close to its limit.
Its like buying the 400 Max when the 500 Max or 650Max cost the same ,it makes no sense.
The 2ups are a heavier longer chassis and designed for two people so a power plant with a 35% power advantage is a nice piece of mind and will come in handy in many situations.
