Happy New Year everyone and especially Old Polaris Tech. 2017 is going to be a great year. My first year riding a quad. I hope to see some beautiful Colorado scenery.

I again want to thank you OPT for all your time and assistance within these ATVConnection Forums. You have helped countless folks diagnose their ATV problems. I propose we rename the Forums after you!

Thanks for responding Moose. I must say you are another one of the key contributors to the ATVConnection. I'm new here, but I have benefited from your input as well as OPT.

This is a great website for ATV enthusiasts due in a large part to the efforts of both of you.

Thanks,

David

You're more than welcome. It's a great hobby and if I were in your area, I'd be out riding every other day. Been helped here many times myself and even ride with some guys from the forums on occasion. Only happy to return the favor.

Take your time getting used to the beast. If you have enough traction that engine will wheelie even a quad as big as the Max is. My only other thought is to invest in some Rotopax gas cans for when you're out there. I imagine the 1000 is a bit thirstier than my 650.

I'm using the "normal" key which "detunes" the engine considerably. Polaris has a similar feature. Quite frankly, 90 horse is too much for a utility type ATV. Maybe this is why the detune function. Anyway, with the normal key and in low range, it is easy to keep speeds below 30 mph. It does not feel like it wants to spin the rear tires or lift the front.

I purchased this model just because I liked it. A little like an old man buying a Z06 Corvette and then driving it to the country club. Those 600 horses will never get to run.
