I didn't see a roll away option either. The way I see it you need 2 things; a drawbridge and a remote control. Or just put in a bridge with a gate on the end and can lock it up so no one can use it. It should be easy to get a permit for a bridge. It doesn't do anything to the creek like culverts do.

Well one thing we did not think of of he gets a permit for a bridge then more than likely he is going to have to submit a engineered drawing for the bridge..

I never thought about that at all. To put in culverts he might need to pay someone to do an environmental impact study. That would be even more of a problem.

Not necessarily... a few clubs I know that have used culvert for water study just had to show a well detailed plan to conservation or similar and they were able to get it signed off ...

I decided to cross in another spot, and make a simple bridge from 4 2x6x16's with some cross peices for decking. Here its a bit narrower. The disadvantage is that I won't be able to drive along the tree line in the spring because it will be too wet and damage the marsh. And I'm giving up on the idea of getting a car in there.
They won't provide a permit because they don't approve of using the recreational trail as an official/permanent way to access property. Although everyone else does it. If they did they would have to wide the road, assign addressing, etc.

Same 14ft board in another spot

I think I'd use something beefier than 2x6's.

Personally, for that kind of span I'd put 2x12's on edge to bear the weight of a quad and rider. I'd do 4 of them spaced about 16" apart and run the decking a couple inches wider on each end.

Thanks, yes I was planning to put them on edge. I'll use something wider (taller) than 2x6 like you said.
