Replacement Battery - ATV

The walmart in my area sells different grades of batteries. They have the basic cheap 50 dollar then a better quality around 90 that is a sealed unit. Good reports on the better battery but many complaints on the cheaper units...

Got a buddy that is a mobile boat mechanic.
i used to go with him to work on boat motors..
We had to get batteries for customers boats.
Never had so many problems as we have seen with Walmart batteries.
many yrs ago they had great batteries.
but then they got cheap.
You ever thought about going out in a boat.
And the battery is not strong enough to crank the boat,
what if you are off shore.
Or the trolling motor batteries die.
And you can't fish all day.
Not good.
It ruins people's day .
And customers are not a Happy Campers.
Now their day and time off is wasted.
Same thing when I worked at a Indy bike shop.
bikes don't have kick start anymore.
Batteries are important.
Customers are too.
I believe in very good batteries.
In your case.
It's your ride. And your money.
Buy what fits your needs.

This battery is the top of the line.
Walmart has never sold a battery even close to this.
I was putting them in tournament fisherman's boats.
They run a trolling motor, and a lot of other electronics.
I also had them for the cranking.
And they had a couple LCD depth finders. With GPS, and maps.
Glad you had good service with the walmart battery.
That is unheard of down here.

The area you live in can have a lot to do with what is availiable. I know that walmart and others use suppliers in there general area. For example..in my area walmart uses "valvoline" for a supplier of there own super tech oils, but in other areas they use different suppluers for the same super tech oil. Probably the same for batteries....

I know Valvoline makes very, good oil.
as far as batteries.
There is really only about 3companies from what I I remember that makes the majority of the batteries.
But these companies makes batteries to your specifications.
And when you give these companies the authority to make the batteries.
There is a cost and profit margin.
And that will determine what a battery sells for.
They let you choose. Which margin you want.
If you Get in the wrong margin.
the battery is not built as good.
From the time you buy a battery, its life is going down.
According to the quality of how its built, charged, stored,or used.
For the majority of folks.
Everything is about how much does it cost them.
Now the quality of is the lead virgin lead.
How many plates does it have.
How thick are the plates
So the mfg gives the buyer the option of which margin do you want.
What I want, is which battery is built th he best.
And what kind of charger do I need to use.
For me, the lithium battery has not been on the market long enough to be as stable as I want it.

Lipo battery's have been on the market for at least 10 years or more in the RC world, and electronics like the cell phone in your pocket and have come a long way to the point where that is the standard battery sold with most RC now.. Same tech has been transferred to Motorsport and other battery's

Maybe.
But when I go to the battery stores.
They will sell me one. and say they are great.
But say, i would wait on the lipo battery..
Why was it only a few yrs ago.
You couldn't bring one on a airplane.
And the ones on the airplanes were taken out.
still stable.
You are more than free to go out and buy a lipo battery.
I'm not ready for my ranger, or Harley Dsvidson to be sitting under the house.
And one of the batteries to catch on fire.

As far as that link the story is 3 years old with the facts in it 4 years or more older... and the pictures they show the battery are still in the charger so they are trying to charge each other until one finally got over charged... So at most they had 31 some odd reports over the millions of people that fly every day... Who knows what these people did to their devices prior?

go with a sealed agm battery then keep a battery tender hooked up when your not using. I have leads connected to the battery with a plug, when i put my machine in the barn i just plug in the battery tender and go about my business. A simple pull the plug and go next time. My battery will be 4 yrs old in jan.
