If you want efi, you're better off selling the atv and simply buying a newer efi model. The King quad 750 I have now is my first efi atv and Ill probably never go back. Instant starts are so much better than having to push a choke lever and feather a throttle warming up a cold engine. The Honda is a 25 year old quad, you'd end up spending more money converting it over to efi than what its worth anyway. A newer Rancher 420 or Foreman 500 are both a big step up in performance and comfort anyway. I dont let mine sit for months at a time though. I go out and start it once a week even if I dont plan to ride it. I simply start it up and let it idle for a few minutes to keep the fuel flowing and make sure the battery doesn't go dead. I've heard that Suzukis are notorious for the battery draining from sitting too long so I don't give it the chance. I'm not a cold weather rider so I don't ride much in the winter unless I get a few days where the temp is a little warmer. Haven't had any of those for a while, its about 20F here today with about 3-4" of snow on the ground.

As I said above, this is the first I have seen of this $300 Chinese kit. I would love to try it out myself, but I love this kind of project. I wonder if the 25% tariff applies...

OTOH, it you had to pay a shop to do this, you certainly could spend a lot. But, most likely, no shop would take it on. They do not generally want to do custom work for any price, and most are already plenty busy. Maybe that is where GREG74 is coming from.

I recently sold a complete running Rotax 400 EFI 4x4 CVT setup, and all I could get for it was $500. Adapting this engine to another quad would have been hard, but an EFI kit for less than than that would be a great upgrade for a mechanically sound engine and a DIY owner. I hope you do it. It would make a great ATVCONN project thread.

 

your working on a 25 year old machine... its not worth upgrading... you could spend the time and money on this EFI upgrade and next time you ride it the engine could decide to fail... Around here a machine that old is worth around $1000 tops no matter what has been done to it or how good of shape its in... Other than general repairs and depending on how big the repair is that would be the only money i would be putting into that machine

 

I don't know where you are, ZROCK, but here on the left coast, a new Honda 420 4x4 utility quad will set you back $8000 or so. A 30yo well-maintained Honda 4x4 utility will always bring $3000, and last a lifetime if you take care of it. Sure, it won't have the latest features and that new car smell, but it is a tool, and it will always keep significant value. With the coming inflation, I would anticipate much higher prices.

Around my property, I used to use two old utility quads that had different purposes. One 2wd and one 4x4. I decided to replace both with my 2017 4x4, and I still easily sold my old reliable 1996 Honda TRX300FW 4x4 for $2500. If it had a title, I woulda got $3000.

 

Well enjoy those high selling prices..LOL.. your lucky down their as i just sold 2 2014 machines and only got 3800 for them... I would never pay that much for a machine that old no matter where i lived... But hey i just spent 5x that on a new machine..LOL
