Bickel- Letting go of it so soon?

Raptoraz- Definately tell us how you got that new head. Who do you have doing all the porting... yourself?

I'm doing the porting myself. Along with the guidance of some of my "Race Car" buddies. The porting is not much. Mostly just cleanup with a little material pulled off of the roof to help straighten the air path. I'm also port matching the intake port to the intake manifold and spacer. Or visa versa. Depending on which is greater.

raptoraz, Is there any problem using the cam etc. with this head?

I put an e-mail into sandhighway but they haven't responded with prices yet, I will call them today, if they don't want to sell me one, I will call Scooter Invasion.

I forgot to mention that I also reshape the ledges around the guides. That is where most of the material is being removed.

Great info, thanks.

Got a good deal on a used Carter 1150 XTV... we'll see how that goes. KPX two seater is on the way too.

Dazon head swap update.

The swap is a bust. The Dazon head is approximately 1/2 an inch taller than the Yerf and KPX's cylinder heads. Which means the cam chain and head studs are 1/2 an inch too short.

So for now, I'm porting my Blue KPX's small valve head. Look for a comparison between my ported KPX small-valved head against my ported big-valved head after this weekend.

Side note:

I believe the Dazon head is still doable. But it's gonna require splitting the cases to put in a longer cam chain.

Thought I would post an update.
The third piston failed, again after 2 or so hours.
We removed the engine and sent it back to the importer on Sept. 28th. Still haven't got it back.
I have been doing some measuring and it looks like a Polaris 250 engine and trans will go right in with a few mods.
I called the importer yesterday and told them if they refund me $500 they can keep the engine.
Have yet to hear back, but I am going to start on the re-fit.
I will keep you posted.

Ick, what a lemon. I wonder what's the real problem in there?

If you get screwed, get the engine back at least. Tear it down and look for the real culprit, and let us know.
