All of the rangers have independent rear suspension. Yeah but the thing about the ranger and rhino, the ranger can make its own trail!!! Our ranger does everything from put in our two 2005 Fx high output jetskies that weigh about 800 each, 2 on single trailer, and it will pull them out of a boat ramp with 45 gallons worth of gas in gas cans, a couple coolers, lifejackets, kids, chairs, and anything else we want to take to the beach from our lake house in the bed which is about 800 pounds. My truck is to heavy to put them in because we have to get in water up to the seat bottoms to get them afloat! I will never even ride in the ruff as hell rhino and mule!

please correct me if i'm wrong but your 2004 Ranger does NOT have IRS. that is a new feature (along with the new front ends) for 2005. pre-2005 Rangers have a SOLID rear axle. also, the Ranger 6X6 and the RangerTM don't have IRS either. to the best of my knowledge (and it's limited when it comes to Rangers! LOL!) the only IRS Ranger is the Ranger4X4.

I stand corrected, i was confused. Does the rhino have all-wheel drive or 4 wheel drive, 2 totally differnt things. the ranger still kicks ***! I am 14 and take it mudding all the time. I am the ultimate people mover with my friends. I ride with 500 cc and bigger and they cant even keep up

Of course the Ranger is better because you have one.... And of course the Rhino is better because I have one..... Come on, at least be fair and give the good and BAD points of both... To the comment about - at least the ranger can make its on trail, funnny thing here, I NEVER had a problem doing the same with the Rhino. Both are good machines and BOTH have weaknesses if the owners want to admit it or not.
As for the buying a jeep thing. If I COULD find a FULLY locked 4x4 BRAND NEW Jeep for $8500 I would have considered one. Everyone I seen that was new and set up for real 4x4ing was well over 20K new, and MUCH closer to 25K. We need to compair apples to apples if we want to argue. The advantage to the Rhino for me was it was SMALLER then a Jeep, dump bed, fully locked, and could be LEGALLY ridden on state trails that I had access to. A lot of the areas did NOT allow Jeeps and for others they were just too large. Plus keep in mind up keep - insurance on a Rhino $160 for full coverage, for a new Jeep where I lived just shy of $1500 a year. Plus a new set of tires for a Jeep... about $500, the Rhino, $250, tags and plate fees - Rhino none, Jeep anopther $75 a year. If you look hard you will see for a lot of people the Rhino/Ranger is a better vehicle. Plus if the Rhino or Ranger dies on the trail my truck will still get me home, if I killed the Jeep 4 wheeling it would be one LONG walk....
Not trying to slam anyone here but lets try and look into things and topics before we put down others and there machines....

in MA,
a quad is an ATV.
a Ranger is an ORV.
can't go the same places the ATV can legally. and if you're caught, your dead meat! the Environmental Police are nasty!

WOW that sucks, when I lived in MI we had a bunch of ATV and ORV trails. Some we could take Jeeps/ATVs/Rhinos on, some not. The big thing was there maybe trails Jeeps are allowed but don't fit too well, that is where the Rhino came in. Plus it is a LOT easier for me to trailer than a Jeep!
Now I am in WV and it is free game for the most part, if only Hatfield/McCoy would let the Rhinos in....

WOW are those Rangers expensive!

i priced a Ranger4X4 in Red on Polaris's website yesterday and fell out of my chair!LOL
i added an enclosed cab(no wiper or heat) for winter, Warn winch, Glacier plow, power dump (electric), small nerf bars and cheap bed-height extenders and ..........................drum roll. .................................................. ...................$16,400.!!!!!!

can you believe that! that's unreal!

think of what you could buy for $16 grand!.....a very nice new Diesel 4X4 Kabota/Deere/NewHolland tractor with loader!

The ranger is faster the rhino only hits 35mph because of the cdi the ranger hits 41mph. Not only is the ranger faster but its beater for work and for play. I have a rhino good for trails but not so good for pulling and hauling. Now a freind of mine has a ranger better for pulling, hauling, trails, faster, and alot bigger. Now if i were you go for the ranger.
