Default Twister carb question.

This 04 hamerhead we got has never liked to start in the cold.I have a new choke for it and the paper filter and new air box.I would like to keep it for guest to ride if I can get it straightened out.To start in the winter I have to jump it with the suzuki cause it takes forever. It will not idle until it gets warm then you have to back the idle of a bit.Runs good warm. The new choke made no diff.I completely took the carb a part and cleaned lastnite,it was perfectly clean. Was hoping to find some grit in there.Checked the fuel filter and was clean.Disconected the fuel line and it will not flow until the motor turns over and it squirts it out.Is there something I can do to check the ckoke and get it working? It must be an elecrtical problem.there is a ceramic thing with two wires plugged into it,wonder if that is the t-stat for the choke,I could wire a switch there instead and it would be manuel.MIght just run a wire to it with a switch from the battery and be done with it.Also how do I get the needle out of the diaphram to shim it out,the thing runs to lean.If I can get this thing squared away I'll do the pipe and keep it around.
