Default break-in period question

my book says 20 hours, my dealer says 10 hours, how long should I leave the break-in oil in? I am at 10.6 hours right now, will it hurt to go to 20 hours?

It's ready to be changed......I found a bit of engine shavings in my screen(separete than the drain plug) that were left over from machining the engine...best to get that chit out sooner the better...

bummer, the dealer is 36 miles away. I guess you are supposed to change the oil filter also, so it wouldn't do me any good to get some high quality oil from Autozone? or is there an alternative to Yamalube, or for that matter, an aftermarket oil filter that works?

my cat manual says change oil after 10 hours, you do not want to use any other filter than the oem. because of the pressure relief valve pressures in the filters

I use Purolator oil filters along with a powerful filter magnet. Tested to be superior.

Purolator filter #PL14610 is the exact replacement. But a few millimeters longer, holds more. If you forget the number it fits first generation Miata's, so it's easy to remember. Same oil pressure bypass setting.

Synthetic oil is vastly superior to liquid dinosaur. It's made from the finest ingredients known to man.

Have seen cleanable screen type Rhino filters selling on ebay... pure trash...

well I just went with the OEM and Yamalube for this change, how often do you change the oil after the first 10 hours? 50 hours too long?

the more you change your oil, the less your engine will ware. i douch my rhino every 10 to 13 hrs (if possiable). as far as break-in i would let the stock oil cut your motor for about 1 tank of gas then go to full syn.

if opinions were airplanes, this place would be an airport!
