Rhino or Ranger XP to buy or not to buy

Hunt Nut, I bought mine for 8695.00 plus tax.The reason there are so many Rangers on the lots,is because the arn't selling...Get on the internet and look up some of your dealers that are in a 1-200 mile radius, you may be able to make a deal, especially if you can find a 06 model...I think you can find one much cheaper if you look around...hunting season is over, and the dealers will make deals...

Thanks for all your answers, I have been back and forth to the dealers and I decided on the Rhino, that is if I can find one. I wanted a Green one and none of the dealers near me have one. However some of the dealers I went also have Rangers on their lots on all colors, do they make more Rangers than Yamaha or are the Yamaha selling faster?
I was offered what I considered a great deal on a 07 Red or blue $9,800 out of the door and $10,900 otd for the silver colored. I think I will wait for a green one to arrive and hope the deal sticks.

After having a SXS I'll never go back to the old utility type ATVs. As to your using it in the woods. I can't believe the places that Rhino will go. And! It has room to put a wire cage on the back to haul those hounds!
I bought a 660 for $8200 at http://www.holzhauers.com/ last year. I think AbernathyOnline has them cheap too.
Good luck.

ON HARD STARTING RHINO: I found out that if you turn your key on, pause for the digital dash to run thru it's checks(zeroMPH). Pull the choke fully out. Turn the key for about 5 seconds and stop. Then do it again . Mine starts much better that way. That method seems to work anytime when it is 40 degrees or colder. I'm guessing the heater circuit in the carb. gets a chance to work better. Rhino's do it all. Great low speed crawling, great uphills and better yet downhills. Great for sliding corrners. Excellent at crossing deeply rutted tracks. It will be interesting to see what the new Ranger will do. oh ya great snow plowing.

Waiting for the screen to display on the digital dash is a good tip, or count to 5 if you dont have digital. The ignition coil has no power until the system boots.
The Rhinos like all carbureted machines are set up with a very lean mixture to meet EPA requirements. Best thing to do to make it start easier is remove the carb, invert it and on the engine side you will see a round brass plug. Carefully drill through the thin plug but dont let the bit hit the screw hidden beneath, if you do it could bite into it and bottom it out quickly and damage your carb. I use left handed drill bits to prevent this. Use something similar to a drywall screw and screw it into the plug and pull it out with pliers etc. The adjustment screw you just found is the idle & low speed mixture screw. It is set at about one turn at the factory, lightly seet it and set it at two full turns out. Reassemble. After you do this your hard starting issues will be history.
The carb heater is not to help starting. In cooler climates and at higher speeds under extreme conditions the carburetor can actually freeze from what is called "the venturi effect" and actually freeze the throttle plate in the open position, can be a bad thing. Involuntary cruise control... The heater keeps it from freezing.

This is a TRUE unbiased opinion as I work at polaris and have a Arctic cat prowler. Everybody always has that friend or relative that doesnt like this or that, just buy what you want and make your own experiences. I love my prowler and the rangers are good (I make them) there just not meant for tight trails.
