True 4 X 4 ??????

Does either the rhino or the ranger give true 4 x 4? Polaris web site says they have a "on-demand true all-wheel drive" I don't like the fact that when I but it in 4 wheel drive the machine decides when I need 4 wheel and it automatically switches between 2 and 4 wheel drive. When I flip a 4 x 4 switch I want 4 wheel drive(ALL 4 WHEELS TURNING). And I have heard that the rhino only locks the rear axle. Any way I am going to purchase either the rhino or the ranger and this is ONE of my concerns.

You can lock in all 4wheels. . . I think i might like AWD compared to 4wd.. All them rally cars have AWD..Im in your shoes, debating between Rhino, Prowler or wait for RZR...Or get something from joyner or venom... Im going to be using mine strictly for recreation, harescambles, maybe race it if i can find some, so i want speed and performance. So any work capabilities will just be a plus, but handy(though 2nd to performance) What are your uses for a SxS?

39 reviews & 1 person responds.............I am sure some of u rhino and ranger owns have some idea if when in 4 wheel drive 3 tires are turning or 4 tires are turning....at least I hope so considering they are a fairly expensive toy/work machine.

Rhino 2wd has an open diff in the rear. There is also a high/low for 2wd.
Rhino 4wd is just like a normal 4wd. Has an open diff front and rear. Also a high/low for this mode.
Rhino has the diff lock option that can be used for either 4 high or low. When in this mode you are in a true 4x4 mode. Meaning all wheels are pulling at the same time.
I have some seat time crawling in the Rhino in the diff lock mode. With opposite front and rear tires off the ground you still move where you want to when you want to.
I cannot speak for any other make or model as I have not driven them.
