Foreman 450ES choke problem
#1
I own a 98 foreman 450 ES I have 4000 miles on it. A great machine. I beat the hell out of it and it won't die. Typical HONDA. I have one problem and I am hopefull that the good membership in this forum may be able to help me. When it gets below zero the manual choke **** freezes rock solid. It just wont budge. Then the only way I can start it is to pump the pump **** on the carb while pressing the start button......and keep on pumping it like an idiot until it warms up. Usually stalls about 5-6 times until it's warm. Anybodys help with this problem would be greatly appreciated. I highly recommend the machine however a 2-4 wheel drive switch would be great. Disk brakes would not hurt either.
Thanks

You probably have water inside the choke cable housing. Get a cable lubing tool and lube the cable. Then make sure the boot on the carb end of the cable is good. Should take care of it. Do your brake cable at the same time. It makes a huge difference and it is something that is often overlooked during regular mainenance.

Greetings fellow mud person
The TRX450 carb has a little plunger mechanism on the side of the carb which was first used on the 1985 Big Red. It was a problem back then and it is still being used. It seizes up inside the carb and the cable also seizes up from moisture and water that gets in. I would suggest taking the plunger out and cleaning it once in a while and spraying some WD40 in there. Lube the cable up too.

Try leaving your choke pulled open when you shut your machine off in cold weather. The mechanic at the dealership were I bought mine told me to do this. If you get a slight bit of condensation frozen in the choke it wont work.
