Honda was getting sued from idiots that couldn't handle them riding drunk ect... hurting and or killing themselves on them....also emissions played a role...why Yamaha continued...probablycause they didnt have naything else good to offer...there sales proabably would have been crap had they stopped production.

Wouldn't you think after 14 years it would be ok to produce one again? I mean there are plenty of other sport quads out and I don't think a 250r is any more dangerous than any other sport quad. Honda has to know that they would sell like hotcakes. I don't get it.

why would they produce it again. 2 stokes are going to be banned to sell in a couple years so why would they waste money on that. i understand what they are doing. im sure they want to but its just not cost effective

Sure it would be cost effective. Being the most sought-after quad out there, they could stamp them out like popcorn for a couple of years and sell everything they made. No r&d cost either. If they made (easily) a 300-350cc powervalve motor, they could ask big money and many including me would pay it, standing in line. Won't happen of course, but just making a point that they could do it profitably. Look at what they spend in R&D on 600 sportbikes they sell for 7 grand that are technological marvels, as opposed to a comparitavely barbaric 4 wheeler they could sell for about the same money.

I have an 89' 250R and I love it. The only thing that's been broken is the clutch cable. Never had it rebuilt and can still beat the c--p out of stock Banshees up Comp @ Dumont. I'm getting rid of it in the Fall. Getting lazy in my old age and I'm tired of kick starting it. All my friends have RAPTORS and my wife has a Z-400. That electric start is great. Hate to get rid of it.
