400 vs. 400

What do you want to do? If you want to trail ride, even fast- hard trail riding, get the Polaris, because the Honda is a great motocrosser/jumper, but it is not as forgiving as the Polaris, and when you come around a corner you've never been around before and run into some kind of crap, the Honda is going to throw you on your ***, and the Polaris just might get you through it in one piece. If you want to Motocross-go round the same track again and again and squeeze every last ounce of speed out of each turn and jump, get the Honda. Silly Later, Fourlix

What? A Polaris is more forgiving than a 400ex? What kind of crap information is that? Have you ever seen the video of the Japanese festival - the one where they slide giant logs down a muddy hill and people ride them down? That is more forgiving than a Polaris. Those things are couches on wheels. Cushy and heavy. Look at the high profile, center of gravity, and "Easy Rider" handlebars. Phhhttt! Polaris more forgiving than a Honda? Get real.

Snell,
Mostly Trailriding. (90+%) Been to the dunes a couple of times. It was fun but if I really liked the sand I'd have bought a Banshee. There they have no equal.
Where I live you can ride the trail beside the creekbanks for miles. Some hills, lots of sweeping curves. I wish my part of Ohio had more hills like southern Ohio does. I've rode MX tracks too. They are pretty fun. The fat Scrambler does surprisingly well actually. But riding MX & riding trails is like the difference between riding a Mountain bike (trails)& riding a stationary exercise bike (MX). I like getting out & tackling all kinds of "obstacles & challenges", not just seeing the same old jump. This time of year is great on the trails. The trees are so leafy it's like riding down a tree lined tunnel

I raced a 400 sport with my 1 day old 400ex.... so, its not worn in at all... but I munched him. If speed is a factor, a big one, then you will be a little hapier with the ex. Also, if you jump at all. DO NOT buy the scrambler! My other friend with tthe 4x4 model already bent his axle doing big jumps with it.
