Blown base gasket, trouble?
#11
im pretty sure its blown, it blew on the left corner of the cylinder. its no longer a sqaure its more like an angled "C" now, the 2 ends that split are sticking out. just today it started leaking an oily substance (gas) and some coolant. i have another question though, what is the purpose of the little hole on the bottom of the water pump cover??? mines leaking oil and coolant from there too. Is the water pump seal bad? i just put a new pump shaft but didnt put a seal cause mine still looked good.thnx~

It's a weep hole to let you know the water pump seal has failed. Retro is right about the coolant on a 250R, there is no coolant flowing along the base gasket. I guess I think in terms of Rotax sled engines in regards to two strokes, I am most familiar with them. I haven't had a 250R apart in years. But all two strokes work the same way except for a few details.
