Default cam and sprockets for 300 ex

What cam and sprockets do you recommend for the 300ex? Oh yeash and what size sprockets for more top end. I rode mostly woods and wide open trails and fire roads. Im looking for more mid range and top end. Also i would like first gear to be longer it is almost useless.

A 14 tooth front sprocket will add some to your top end, and aid in making first gear useable...(i know what you mean about that)...anything more then a 14 tooth or a 35 tooth rear would be just too high of gearing for a mildly modified 300ex like yours...So either 14/38 or 13/35 would do you good...don't mix the 14 with the 35...you won' like the results ... first gear is almost needed to take off and once in 3rd gear and higher your acceleration will be saddening...good luck with your 300.

As for the CDI a higher rev limiter CDI is almost mandatory once you add a cam...it will feal very restrictive...

thankyou killer 250R. Do you know of anything else to make it faster without boring it out? I know a guy that works on atvs and says boring it out would only add a little bottom end.

Oh yes there is plenty more you can do....you can skip the bigger bore and have a high copression piston instead ( go with the 11:1 ) ...in addition to that the a cam like you mentioned would be great...make sure you don't get too mild of a cam or you'll not get much of and increase...you can also get your head ported....you can also bump up the size of your carb to help out ith air coming in ... with all that stuff you should see a good increase. From there it's a bigger piston and a longer stroke...but it seams stroker 300EX's don't last a real long time...
