air box mods?Removing air scoop tube.

Is it OK to remove the stock air scope tube that runs into the air box from under the gas tank? Feed back please. On a 400ex

It matters where you ride. That tube is in place to protect from water. If you take it off i'd at least buy one of those snorkel outerwears covers to protect it.
