I just received my Warn 2000 winch today from Cabela's, but they don't list a mount in their big catalog. Does anyone know of a source for one? I have metalworking skills and tools and could build one if I had measurements. Can anyone help? Thanks in advance for replies.

the mount is part number 60794 and if you want the roller fairlead it's part number 28929. Tell Cabelas those part numbers and they can order them from Warn for you. Warn wouldn't sell direct but they gave me the part numbers.

Cabela's does have a winch mount for the Rancher but be forwarned... I just installed mine with a Warn 2000lb. and it DOESN'T FIT PROPERLY. The winch is not high enough up on the plate (where the holes are pre-drilled). When you attempt to put the winch up between the frame and the front plastic the winch will not fit behind the headlight plastic covers. I am talking about the black plastic covers behind the headlight bulbs. I had to take it off and cut 1/4 of it away. Now I have to figure out a way to seal this so that water doesn't get up into the bulb or the lense. Trust me, there is NO WAY to mount a 2000lb Warn without removing and cutting the cover. I tried to call the phone number on the winch mount instructions but it has been disconnected. I tried to make it work for about 3 hours before having to cut. I was thinking of complaining to Cabelas, but I figured what good would it do?!?!?! Good luck and think about another mount...

If yuou go to www.Warn.com you can email them or get an 800 number. They will respond within 24-36 hours of recieving your email and if you have a technical question, they will transfer you to a person who can tell you what to do. I had a question when installing the brake kit on a 2000 and a 2500 about bolt lengths and the person I was transferred to knew exactly what I was talking about and was very efficient. Hope that helps.

TX Doc2,
I e-mailed Warn a while back and asked about the break kit for my 2000lb. The rep told me i didn't need one and not to to worry about it.
So, how much are they? Are they hard to install and what does that consist of? Does it work and is it worth getting? Just a few ???'s.
Did you ever build those front clevis attachment?
Thank's in advance.
Good Riding!!

Does Cabella's now sell Warn mounting brackets? I bought my 2500 from Cabella's but the bracket was aftermarket and didn't work well at all. It was a bracket that was bent to the shape of the diagonal frame tubes, plus the fairlead attached to the bracket instead of the atv frame, it was a bad setup.

So I got the bracket made and packaged by Warn through Napa Auto Parts. This was just a flat piece of steel with holes drilled for the 4 U-bolts to attach it to the frame and more holes drilled to attach the winch to the bracket. Then there was another separate piece similiar for the roller fairlead. It works great! I've got the 450ES though, I'm not sure how they fit on the Rancher.

I paid $68 for the brake. It takes about 20 minutes to install. Essentially, you do a minor disassembly and take out the old part, and replace it with the new one. They claim 150 pounds of holding capability without it, but that is clearly not enough to hold a 500+ pound quad. He may have told you that you don't need it, but he may not be able to discern that you want it. If you want, I will scan the intallation sheet and you can see that it is not difficult.
